Oliver Waespi is Featured Composer at the 2024 RNCM International Brass Band Festival in Manchester

No less than six works by Oliver Waespi will be presented at the 2024 edition of the RNCM International Brass Band Festival at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester (UK). Oliver Waespi's music is going to be featured by leading bands, alongside works by the other featured composer, Belfast born Dorothy Bates.

The 2024 RNCM International Brass Band Festival is placed under the artistic direction of David Thornton and is bound to take place at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester (UK) from 26 to 28 January 2024.

In particular, reigning European Champions Brass Band Treize Étoiles under Frédéric Théodoloz are performing "Hypercube" whilst the BlackDyke Band conducted by Prof Nicholas Childs will present their successful european own choice work "Antiphonies (on themes by William Byrd)". Furthermore, the Cory Band under the baton of Philip Harper will perform "Other Lives", Tredegar Band under Ian Porthouse "As if a voice were in them", the Junior RNCM Band conducted by Mark Bousie and Phil Goodwin "The Graces of Love" and the RNCM Brass Band under David Thornton, James Gourlay and Benjamin Voce "Traversada". Oliver Waespi's music will be performed alongside works by the other featured composer, Belfast born Dorothy Gates, and many more exciting contributions to the brass band medium by various composers.

Placed under the idea "Dropping the Rules", the 2024 RNCM International Brass Band Festival promises to be yet another groundbreaking edition of what is arguably the leading festival for new concert repertoire in the brass band world.
